Rates, Insurance, and Billing

If you have insurance that you would like to use to pay for therapy, you should confirm that your policy benefits include outpatient psychotherapy and that your insurance company doesn’t require you to see one of their therapists. Call the customer service number on your insurance card and ask the representative the following questions:

  • Is outpatient psychotherapy a covered benefit?
  • Is there a limit to the number of sessions or the total dollar amount that my plan will cover?
  • What is the deductible, and have I met it yet? Does it start on January 1st or on some other date?
  • What is the coverage if I see an out-of-network psychologist?
  • Do I need preauthorization for therapy to be covered?
My fee is $140 for a 50 minute session. I charge prorated amounts for sessions longer or shorter than 50 minutes. I have some openings for sliding fee scale appointments for people who do not have insurance coverage and cannot afford the full fee.

Billing is handled by my office manager Renée; she mails bills out monthly. Any portion of your bill not covered by insurance can be paid by check, cash, or credit card.
